ERRORS IN THE PREVIOUS EDITION
This list covers errors which occurred in the
preparation of the tables or the commentary in
"Scottish Transport Statistics". It does
not include cases where the statistics now
published differ from those in the previous edition,
because they have been revised by whoever supplied the
figures. Such revisions could occur following more
information becoming available, or an improvement in
estimation methodology, or the correction of errors in the
supplier's own systems. In such cases, the revisions may be
mentioned in the text or a footnote to the relevant table,
if they are large enough to warrant this.
We apologise for the following errors, which we
have found in the previous edition:
- Table 4.1: It was implied that because tolls levied
on the Erskine Bridge were for financial years then the
figures for the number of crossings was on a calendar
year basis. It appears now that this was not the case
and both sets of figures were collected on a financial
year basis.
- Table 9.2: The total for Edinburgh should have been
4,030.2 thousand instead of 2,553.9 thousand.
- Table 10.8: footnote 1 should have said "10
thousand tonnes…" rather than "10 million
tonnes…".
- Table 10.12(a): Last year the number of passengers
for 'Troon' was shown as 368 thousand. However, more
recent data gives a breakdown of the routes involved
which were not shown previously. This indicated that
passenger numbers for Troon to Larne (100 thousand
passengers) had mistakenly been omitted from last years
table.
- Table 10.14: Otternish-Leverburgh entry showed
ferry data up to 2003. This service was in fact
replaced in 2002 by the Berneray-Leverburgh ferry and
the figures shown in 2002 and 2003 were actually for
the Berneray service.
- Table 10.15: Commercial Vehicles and Buses, P &
O Scottish Ferries / Northlink Orkney & Shetland
Ferries data entries prior to, and including, 2000 were
incorrect. These have now been revised where
possible.
Where appropriate, the tables in this edition
include corrected figures. Any problems or
inconveniences resulting from these errors are
regretted.
