NEW AND REVISED TABLES AND CHARTS

This note describes the main changes which have been made to the tables and charts in this edition of "Scottish Transport Statistics", in order to provide additional information. It does not mention changes to the statistics which are presented in the tables and charts, for example following the introduction of new methods of collecting the data: such changes are described in the relevant Chapters.

New tables and charts

Table 6.11 shows petrol and diesel consumption of road vehicles;
Table 8.6
shows passenger journeys within Scotland using national rail tickets by local authority areas of origin and destination;
Table 8.7 shows passenger journeys using national rail tickets and recently opened stations;
Table 9.3(b) shows scheduled International passenger traffic to/from the main Scottish International airports;
Table 9.16 shows passengers on services supported by the route development fund;
Table 12.7 shows hours travelled per person per year by purpose;
Table 12.8 shows average duration of travel per trip by purpose;
Table 12.9 shows trips per person per year by main mode and number of cars available to the household;
Annex 1 shows mid-year population estimates by local authority area.

Tables which have been revised significantly (e.g.) to provide additional information

Table 8.7 (previously 8.6) has been expanded to show passenger journeys using national rail tickets at the top 100 rail stations;
Table 10.12(a) has been expanded to provide separate figures for each route;
International Comparisons have been expanded to include statistics for the ten countries which joined the EU in May 2004, and to provide figures for the volumes of road traffic in different countries;
In addition, some of the tables in other chapters which give figures for individual countries have been revised to take account of the expansion of the EU.
