SFFF SG 8-1: Access

Several issues related to access have arisen during discussions of the Steering Group. These include:

  1. The repeal/amendment of the Freshwater and Salmon Fisheries (Scotland) Act 1976 - now provisions contained principally in sections 30, 48-51, and 66 of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 2003, and provisions in Schedule 3 to that Act;
  2. Inclusion of commercial put-and-take fisheries and club waters where full access is already afforded;
  3. Resolution of conflicts between different angling sectors who wish to access the same resource at the same time;

Section 1: If it was decided to retain but amend the PO system, the following are the issues which might be addressed.

Section 2: Commercial fisheries and club waters allowing full access.

Section 3: Resolution of conflicts between different angling sectors wishing to access the same resource at the same time.

Section 4: Alternatives to the system of Protection Order Areas.
