1. Description of the Groups
The Freshwater Fisheries Forum comprises the
following:
The Steering Group
The following organisations are represented on the
Forum's Steering Group:
- Association of Salmon Fishery
Boards;
- Association of Scottish
Stillwater Fisheries;
- Association of West Coast
Fisheries Trusts;
- Atlantic Salmon Trust;
- Consultative Committee on
Protection Orders;
- Fish Conservation Centre;
- Fisheries Research Services;
- Institute of Fisheries
Management;
- Representative of east coast
fisheries trusts; and
- Salmon and Trout Association
(Scotland);
- Salmon Net Fishing Association of
Scottish;
- Scottish Anglers National
Association;
- Scottish Campaign for Public
Angling;
- Scottish Environment Protection
Agency;
- Scottish Federation for Coarse
Angling;
- Scottish Natural Heritage;
- SEERAD (Chair and
Secretariat)
The Steering Group will draft policy proposals and will
meet at regular intervals. It will update the Forum as
required (perhaps at 6 monthly intervals).
The Steering Group's next meeting will take place on
13 July. Feedback from this will be provided by the people
and bodies represented on this Group, so that the
legitimate concerns of all are considered, insofar as this
is possible.
The Freshwater Fisheries Forum
The Freshwater Fisheries Forum was proposed as one of a
number of recommendations made by the Fisheries
Co-ordination Working Group. It has been set up jointly by
the Scottish Executive and key stakeholders from the
freshwater fisheries sector. The Forum is intended to
provide the public arena at which attendees can be kept up
to date with developments and be able to express views.
The general purpose of the Forum is to allow for an
exchange of information and discussion of topical issues
and to aid the consultation process and decision making for
any new legislation.

Forum Papers and Steering Group minutes will be posted
here. We are also in the process of setting up a
discussion forum on the above web page to provide users
with an opportunity to offer and exchange views and comment
on freshwater fisheries issues.
