This guidance, which is issued jointly by the Scottish Executive and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), supersedes the guidance issued in September 2003. It describes the scope, regulatory and technical requirements of the Regulations, how they should be applied, and explains the main legal provisions. An Investigation into the Management of the Post-Release Supervision of a Sex Offender in North Lanarkshire [Report]

The report of a SWIA investigation into the post-release supervision of a sex offender in North Lanarkshire who committed a serious sex offence while subject to community supervision on Extended Sentence. The report describes and analyses the quality of the services offered by the agencies responsible for supervision. It finds that while risk cannot be eliminated entirely there were significant shortfalls in performance. The report ends with key national recommendations to improve practice.
