Review of Marches and Parades in Scotland

Appendix B: Script for telephone attitude survey

<INTRO> Good --, my name is -- and I'm calling from Taylor Nelson Sofres , an independent research company. We have been commissioned by the Scottish Executive to find out about people's views and experiences of parades and marches, and the impact that they have on local communities. The research covers all sorts of marches, including political protests such as anti-war demonstrations, Orange walks or Irish Republican marches, and local gala day parades. Would you mind answering some questions? It should take around 15 minutes. All your responses will be strictly confidential and nothing that could identify you will be passed on to the Scottish Executive.

I am going to read out a list of different types of march or parade. For each one, could you tell me whether you have ever been involved in that kind of march, either as a participant, a spectator or as someone otherwise affected by the march (for example as a passer-by, or because you live or work nearby). We're just interested in marches or parades that took place in Scotland, not in parades you might have seen when you were abroad or in other parts of the UK.
