ANNEX 6 : MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Service managers will require to set in place systems to meet their management information needs. These should include the monitoring of:

Compliance with National Standards

Demand for services including the sources of the demand.

Outcome of services to include:

  • satisfactory completion
  • levels of beach
  • outcome of breach

Essential characteristics of those on whom an order is made to include age, sex, employment status etc.

SWSG in consultation with local authorities, is currently developing a revised statistical data system (known as the 'aggregate return') to enable information about national and local trends in sentencing to be gathered and disseminated on an annual basis. It is envisaged that the 'aggregate return' system will come into effect from 1 April 1998, although SAO data will not feature in the first phase of the revised system.
