National Objectives for Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System: Standards - Supervised Attendance Orders

ANNEX 2 : LEVELS OF FINES AND PRISON ALTERNATIVES
(FOR GENERAL REFERENCE, SEE CHAPTER 1, PARAGRAPHS 1.10-1.14 OF THESE STANDARDS)

The current periods of imprisonment which may be imposed in Scotland for default in payment of fines are as indicated below.

Up to £2007 days
Exceeding £200 up to £50014 days
Exceeding £500 up to £1,00028 days
Exceeding £1,000 up to £2,50045 days
Exceeding £2,500 up to £5,0003 months
Exceeding £5,000 up to £10,0006 months

The above figures are subject to revision from time to time.

The standard scale of fines for offences triable only summarily known as "the standard scale" is shown below. Section 225(2) of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995 refers

NOTE: BREACH OF AN SAO

The maximum periods of imprisonment which can be imposed are:

60 days in District Court
3 months in Sheriff Court
