National Objectives for Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System: Standards - Community Service

CHAPTER 9: SATISFACTORY COMPLETION

117.A report must be submitted to the court on the satisfactory completion of the Community Service Order or Community Service requirement. Its content must include an outline of the setting and nature of the work undertaken, the standard of work achieved, and the impact, if any, the placement had on the behaviour/attitudes of the offender. It is good practice for a copy of the report to be sent to the original SER author.

118.It will be a matter for local arrangement whether reports on a Community Service requirement in a Probation Order should be sent directly to the court by the Community Service Officer, or via the officer supervising the Probation Order.

119.At the completion of a Community Service Order, the supervising Community Service Officer should explain to the offender the effects of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as it relates to that offender and his/her Community Service Order.
