Criminal Justice Social Work Development Centre for Scotland

The Criminal Justice Social Work Development Centre for Scotland has been established to assist in the development and implementation of evidence based practice in Scotland.

Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC)

The Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling assists to extend and improve services for people with dementia and their carers in Scotland.

Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability (SCLD)

SCLD brings together 13 organisations to ensure that policy, service development and training throughout Scotland is informed by evidence, best practice and the experiences of people with learning disabilities and family carers.

Scottish Institute for Excellence in Social Work Education (SIESWE)

The Institute is a collaborative initiative of the nine Scottish universities involved in teaching social work education programmes and is funded by the Scottish Executive, the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council and the nine member HEIs. It is undertaking a programme of educational development work that is designed to improve the flexibility, relevance effectiveness, ethical base and accessibility of learning for social work practice.

Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care (SIRCC)

The aim of the Institute is to ensure that residential child care staff throughout Scotland have access to the skills and knowledge they require to meet the needs of children and young people living in residential care. SIRCC offers education and training, research, consultancy, and library and information services to realize this aim.

Scottish Training on Drugs and Alcohol (STRADA)

Stòr Cùram ('the Storehouse for Care')

One of the Institute's core projects, the Stòr Cùram initiative is working with social work educators, practitioners, and service users to provide technology-supported social work learning to meet future needs. It has developed a digital library of multi-media learning materials for use by all involved in workforce development and is engaged in staff support and development aimed at improving the e-learning skills and confidence of teaching staff within both educational institutions and the workplace.
