2003 SIXTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE PLANNING AUDIT UNIT
THE PLANNING AUDIT UNIT
The Planning Audit Unit was formed in 1996 to review councils' development control performance, to work with individual councils to identify best practice and areas where improvements could be made to the processes and services. The audits were later extended to cover development planning. Over 80% of planning authorities have now had a planning audit. The map overleaf shows audit coverage to date and proposals for the forthcoming year.
