NEW PROJECT: EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
INVITED
Expressions of interest are invited
for the following project:-
ETHNIC MINORITY GRANT SCHEME REVIEW
The Ethnic Minorities Grant Scheme
(EMGS) gives Scottish Executive grants to voluntary
organisations in Scotland for projects designed to reduce
discrimination and promote racial equality. It aims to
provide initial funding to foster new projects which help
support black and minority ethnic people in Scotland by
identifying and meeting specific needs and improving access
to mainstream services. The Scottish Executive Development
Department wishes to commission research to explore the
extent to which the EMGS contributes to the black and
minority ethnic voluntary sector's developmental needs. The
aims of the research will be to identify:- the main
development needs and priorities for the black and minority
ethnic voluntary sector in Scotland; the extent to which
the EMGS meets the needs and priorities of the sector; the
extent to which the EMGS contributes to the Scottish
Executive's policy objectives; and what changes to the
focus of the EMGS, if any, are necessary in order for it to
better meet the needs and priorities of the sector and the
Scottish Executive. It is anticipated that the work will be
carried out over a 2-month period (June-July 2004). The
study will be managed by Voluntary Issues Social
Research.
