NATIONAL PLANNING FRAMEWORK FOR SCOTLAND
STRATEGY MAP
181. The main spatial components of the development strategy set out in the preceding two sections are shown on Map 22. The map identifies Scotland's cities, international gateways and the deep water opportunities at Hunterston and Scapa Flow. It highlights the communications corridors and strategic transport routes which will be of importance in supporting Scotland's development to 2025. It promotes economic diversification and environmental stewardship in Scotland's landward areas, identifies areas where the quality of the environment needs to be strengthened, and draws attention to the great potential for marine energy development on the West and North Coasts. It identifies West Edinburgh and the Clyde Corridor as areas where co-ordinated action is required to support economic development and area regeneration.
