1. Pupil numbers in this table are calculated on a slightly different basis than elsewhere in this publication.
2. The average rate per 1000 pupils is based on two years of exclusion data (2001/02 and 2002/03) and pupil numbers as at September 2002.
3. Pupil numbers are for primary and secondary only in these categories. There were also 18 pupils in special schools from the Black-Caribbean, Black-African and Black-Other categories, and 5 pupils from the Gypsies & Travellers categories which cannot be split for disclosure reasons. The average rate per 1000 pupils includes the special school pupils.
