Initial scoping study to address the need for evidence with which to judge the improvements being made to Local Government services and culture as a result of the statutory duty of Best Value.

Grant Distribution - 2001 Census Updates

In preparation of the forthcoming 3 year settlement calculation for 2005-08, a number of Census based indicators, including measures for 'deprivation' and 'children subject to family stress', require to be updated.

Forthcoming Research Studies

Survey of Candidates in 2003 Local Government Elections
Supporting proposals within the Local Governance White Paper 2003, this survey will look at the profile and backgrounds of Scottish Council candidates. Will be followed up with a survey of Councillors to support the development of a remuneration package for Councillors.

Capacity Building for Community Planning (2002)

The Community Planning Task Force (CPTF) Scotland commissioned this study in 2002 to research the capacity building requirements of Community Planning, with reference to the training and development needs of staff directly concerned with developing and progressing Community Planning. The study was expected to indicate what sort of training and other development work needs to be done to progress Community Planning.
