Exploring Policy Research Needs on LGBT Communities in Scotland: Phase 3

Minority Ethnic People and Homelessness in Scotland

Cross-cutting research between Housing and Social Justice (Equalities) Research Teams. This study will examine the provision and use of homelessness services in Scotland by minority ethnic people. It aims to improve the evidence base for local authorities and other service providers in the development of local homelessness strategies. The study will map existing services, review local authority experience and practice and involve in-depth interviews with users and potential users of services.

Refugee Skills Audit

This project seeks to identify the skills, qualifications and aspirations of refugees and asylum seekers living in Scotland. In addition, the audit will also identify the barriers that refugees and asylum seekers encounter when attempting to find employment or access further training.

Mainstreaming Equality

Low Income Households with Children: an Exploratory Study

Financial Literacy Initiatives - What Works?

Research to assess the effect of the implementation of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 on asylum seekers and devolved services in Scotland. The study involved in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, service providers, asylum seekers and local community organisations, and included elements to identify and assess good practice and to monitor media content and coverage of asylum seeker issues.

Equality Proofing Procedures in Drafting Legislation: International Comparisons (2002)

Research to identify models of equality proofing procedures in the drafting of legislation in other countries, and in particular to identify whether written guidance on equality proofing of legislation existed which might serve as a basis for drafting guidance for the Scottish Executive.

Year One Monitoring Of The Child Poverty Package (2003)

The Child Poverty Package, a new package of initiatives to assist lone parents into further and higher education by supporting childcare costs and improving childcare supply, was launched in July 2001. This study involved designing a monitoring framework for two key elements of this package, and collection and analysis of the first year of monitoring data.
