A Fairer Scotland
- Legislation to replace the discredited system of
poinding and warrant with a humane alternative has
completed its progress through the Scottish Parliament
sales (the Debt Arrangement and Attachment (Scotland)
Act 2002)
- To enable incapacitated adults get others to help
them with decisions they cannot make for themselves,
the Executive has secured the Adults with Incapacity
(Scotland) Act 2000. The Office of the Public Guardian
was set up to deal with the affairs of adults who
cannot make decisions for themselves.
- To bring to an end the feudal system of land
ownership in Scotland, the Executive has secured the
Abolition of Feudal Tenure (Scotland) Act 2000, and has
taken forward the modernisation of the land tenure
system by introducing the Title Conditions (Scotland)
Bill to Parliament.
