JOINT FUTURE AGENDA: SHORT LIFE WORKING GROUP ON JOINT PREMISES DEVELOPMENT IN PRIMARY AND COMMUNITY CARE: FINAL REPORT

The Importance of the Health Agenda

Within this Regeneration Project, the health agenda is not just about the delivery of new physical health premises but also about health as a fundamental strand of the entire process. All of the Partners accept that to improve the health and welfare of the citizens in the area we must tackle the underlying problems through a raft of complementary measures. These measures include, for example, thorough education, better housing, safer environments, increasing training and employment opportunities as well as direct initiatives that target the health agenda.

The realization, belief and commitment from Partners that our joint efforts can be much more effective than the sum of the constituent parts is the main justification for building on the exemplary Community Planning relationships and projects that already exist within the Stirling area. Within Raploch we also have several other factors which have assisted the joint working: -

  • Working in a relatively small and manageable geographic area with an existing population of 3600 and an intended population of around 6000
  • Relatively plentiful supply of sites within the control of the Partner organisations
  • Partner agencies have a large variety of obsolete facilities which give the opportunity for reprovision for the 21 st century
  • Receptive community, desperate to work with us to evolve solutions
