Scottish Fuel Poverty Statement

Central Heating Programme
This programme provides free central heating and insulation to an estimated 70,000 householders over 5 years. 8600 households benefited in 2001-02, 12,000 will benefit in 02-03. All parts of the programme will be completed by March 2006.

The Central Heating Programme is open to all households in the private sector who lack central heating, or who have a heating system which is broken and beyond repair, and where the householder or spouse is aged 60 or over. Please contact Eaga at 0800 316 1653. The programme is also available to all households in local authorities and housing associations who currently lack central heating. Tenants should contact their landlord directly to see whether their house will benefit from works.

Warm Deal
The Warm Deal provides eligible households with a comprehensive £500 package of works comprising: Cavity wall insulation and/or loft, tank and pipe insulation. Plus hot tank insulation; draught proofing; energy efficient light bulbs; and advice on energy use and conservation.
