Nurses working in schools are accessible to children, young people and their families and able to respond flexibly to their needs.

Nurses are known to both professionals and children within the school and provide a direct point of access to health services. They should be readily accessible and able to act as a source of information, and advice on health matters and refer on to other services as appropriate. Whilst the bulk of work will continue to take place within the school day, greater flexibility will be necessary to respond to changing needs and allow home visiting and work outside the school day where appropriate. | - There is a named nurse for each school who is known to the school team, who are able to contact her as required.
