Notes:
(1) Those who are recorded by ES as having been placed into unsubsidised employment, plus those who are recorded as having terminated their JSA claim in order to go into a job. This will undercount the total number going into a job: some who go into a job will not, for what ever reason, record this as the reason for termination of their JSA claim. These will be counted as 'not know'. Past research indicates that the destinations of those who do not give a reason for termination follow a similar pattern to those who do give a reason. Where a young person returns to JSA within 13 weeks of starting anunsubsidised job, the job start is discounted.
(2) Includes for example transfer to a training programme, gone abroad. Also includes young people, who on leaving New Deal continue to claim JSA.
(3) Virtually all of these are individuals who have left their option and have not returned to claim JSA. Some of these maystart a new JSA claim within 13 weeks of leaving the option, in which case they will re-enter the New Deal
