Annex 2 Remit of the DEFRA (formerly MAFF) Antimicrobial Resistance Co-ordination (DARC) Group
"To co-ordinate and direct DEFRA activities on antimicrobial usage in animals and antimicrobial resistance in micro-organisms present in feedingstuffs, animals and food. The Group's remit will include:
DEFRA response to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food Report on Microbial Antibiotic Resistance in Relation to Food Safety
DEFRA Action Plan and strategy on antimicrobial resistance
Prudent and optimal use of antimicrobials in animals
Alternatives to the use of antimicrobial products
Research and development
Public awareness of the issue."
