Appendix C Telephone Survey Questions
1. With your current levels of accessibility do you ever feel isolated?
When? From what?
2. Would you please state the usefulness of each of the following transport modes (very useful, useful, slightly useful, not used):
- Car as a driver:
- Scheduled bus or post bus:
- Taxi:
- Community bus:
- Train:
- Cycle or walk:
Comment on the quality, reliability and convenience of travel by each mode.
3. What change would you most like to see made to improve transport by any or all of these modes?
4a. Looking at your current transport situation do you feel that there are any limitations for access to work, shops, friends and family, healthcare, banks/post offices etc., other?
4b. And to more specialised/distant services like: leisure interests, special medical needs, occasional work travel, other?
5. What basic and everyday services do you find are most convenient to access e.g. post office, shops?
6. What specific changes in the way these everyday services (not the transports) are provided would help you and your household most?
7. Do you feel that your quality of life is spoiled by the transport situation or do the benefits of living in a rural area outweigh any access difficulties? How? Why?
8. Do you think that rural dwellers are getting a fair deal from the Council and the Government in terms of the services provided and the taxes paid (Council tax, income tax, business tax, fuel tax, etc.)? What changes do you suggest (and how should they be paid for)?
9. Are there any other points you would like to make?
10. Would you be prepared to meet at a local school or hall with other local people to discuss with us further any problems and how local accessibility might be improved?
