Notes:
(1) Includes those leaving before having a first interview.
(2) Those who are recorded by ES as having been placed into unsubsidised employment, plus those who are recorded as having terminated their JSA claim in order to go into a job. This will undercount the total number going into a job: some who go into a job will not, for whatever reason, record this as the reason for termination of the JSA claim. These will be counted as 'not known'. Past research indicates that the destinations of those who do not give a reason for termination follow a similar pattern to those who do give a reason. Where a young person returns to JSA and the Gateway within 13 weeks of starting an unsubsidised job, the job start is discounted.
(3) includes starts to stage III of the self-employment routeway.
(4) Includes for example transfer to a training programme, or gone abroad. Also includes young people, who, on leaving New Deal from the Gateway continue to claim JSA.
(5) Where there is no leaving code recorded on JUVOS, or where the leaving code is recorded as 'not known' or simply 'ceased claiming' or'failed to attend'. As more data are added, the numbers in this category may be revised downwards for recent months.
