Report of the MMR Expert Group
Footnotes
I For the purposes of this report the terms "immunisation" and "vaccination" should be considered largely interchangeable, consistent with common usage. The Expert Group acknowledges that the terms have more precise, and different, meanings in a professional, scientific or medical context.
II Except where permission to publish in full was withheld for good reason, for example, pending publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
III Serious reactions include those that are fatal, life-threatening, disabling, incapacitating or which result in or prolong hospitalisation and/or are medically significant. Other reactions that are considered serious include congenital abnormalities. Examples of reactions which are medically significant are given on the Committee on Safety of Medicines website.
IV Around 1.5 million doses of MMR are administered annually in the UK.
