Retail Sales Index Q2 2012

Scotland’s Chief Statistician today announced the release of the Retail Sales Index for Scotland Quarter 2 2012.

These statistics are a component of the the Scottish Quarterly GDP Publication, accounting for approximately 5.3 per cent of the Scottish economy.

The main findings are:

• The volume of Retail Sales at basic prices in Scotland fell by 0.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2012 and grew by 0.6 per cent annually (seasonally adjusted).

• The value of Retail Sales at current prices in Scotland fell by 0.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2012 and grew by 2.4 per cent annually (seasonally adjusted).
