Member Reappointed to the Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Angela McNaught was first appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2008 and is also the Chairman of the RBGE Audit Committee. Mrs McNaught is a qualified accountant (FCCA) with over 20 years experience working in commercial financial roles.  Most recently, she has been involved in a business start up in Edinburgh and prior to that, worked as a London based Finance Director of an exhibition organising subsidiary of the Earls Court and Olympia Group and has performed voluntary work in the local community.  She brings to the Board skills and experience in financial management, corporate governance and risk management

This re-appointment will be for four years and runs from  May 16, 2012 to  May 15, 2016.

The re-appointment is part-time and attracts no remuneration.  The total time commitment is approximately 16 days per year.

Mrs McNaught holds no other public appointments.

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a Non-Departmental Public Body established under the National Heritage (Scotland) Act 1985 and is mainly funded by the Scottish Government. Its mission is "to explore and explain the world of plants" and its primary functions are: science, horticulture, education and information and visitor services.

This Ministerial public re-appointment was made in accordance with the code of practice published by the Public Appointments Commissioner for Scotland.

This  re-appointment was made in partial accordance with the Public Appointments Commissioner for Scotland's Revised Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments to Public Bodies in Scotland.  This re-appointment met the Code requirements with the exception of code paragraphs two which deals with succession planning.

All re-appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the re-appointment process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.  Mrs McNaught has not declared any political activity.
