Retail sales index for Scotland

Scotland’s Chief Statistician today announced the release of Retails Sales Index for Scotland Quarter 4 2011.

These statistics are a component of the the Scottish Quarterly GDP Publication, accounting for approximately 5.3 per cent of the Scottish economy.

The main findings are:

  • The volume of Retail Sales at basic prices in Scotland grew by 0.7 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2011 and grew by 0.7 per cent annually (seasonally adjusted)
  • The value of Retail Sales at current prices in Scotland grew by 0.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2011 and grew by 3.5 per cent annually (seasonally adjusted)
