New Year Honours

The New Year Honours list for 2012 includes recognition for a number of prominent Scots.
Among those in Scotland to receive a CBE are:
- Tahir Mahmood, for services to women's health
- James Holloway, Director, The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, for services to the arts
- Ronald Shade Hamilton, Chair, Daysoft Ltd, for services to the contact lens industry
- Ronnie Corbett, actor and comedian, for services to entertainment and to charity
- Seamus McDaid, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, University of the West of Scotland, for services to higher education
Recipients of the OBE include:
- Lorraine Kelly, for services to charity and the Armed Forces
- Charlie Miller, proprietor, Charlie Miller Hairdressing Ltd, for services to the hairdressing industry
- Gordon Mackinlay, President of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, for services to paediatric surgery
- Murray Grigor, film-maker, for services to architecture and to the film industry
- Robin Hodge, publisher, The List, for services to arts and culture
Among those receiving an MBE are:
- Chris Paterson, Scottish international, for services to Scottish rugby
- Corinna Penrose, former Commissioner, Mental Welfare Commission, for services to mental health in Scotland
- Donald Mackay, for services to the Harris Tweed industry
- Betty Bennett, for charitable services in Scotland
