Celebrate St Andrew’s Day with a feast
St Andrew's Day is approaching fast and to celebrate, what could be better than arranging a gathering of family and friends to enjoy good company and savour some of Scotland's finest produce.
Scotch Lamb is supporting a Scottish Government initiative promoting a St Andrew's Day celebration menu card which is available free from selected premium food outlets. The menu features a starter and dessert recipe from Andrew Fairlie, chef at the world-famous Gleneagles Hotel and a main course from Quality Meat Scotland.
Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is the public body responsible for marketing Scotch Lamb and their Head of Marketing, Laurent Vernet, commented on the flavours of the rich, tasty soup and the warming, aromatic sweet and how they were excellent choices to complement the succulent main course of Scotch Lamb.
The three course menu starts with traditional Cullen Skink soup, followed by Rosemary Roasted Scotch Lamb and Potatoes and finishes with Spiced Winter Fruit Served with Creamed Vanilla Rice Pudding.
Mr Vernet continued: "The St Andrew's Day celebration menu is beautifully balanced in terms of flavour and the preparation of the meal, using quality Scottish produce, is relatively straightforward."
"Scotch Lamb is at its best at this time of year and takes its sweet flavour from the heather hills and grasslands of Scottish farms, where they roam free.
"It is beautifully tender and tasty and Scotch Lamb tastes like no other because of the unique environment from where it is born and reared."
"St Andrew's Day gives us all an opportunity to sweep aside the cold, dark winter evenings and enjoy the celebration of our national Saint's Day by sharing a meal with the people who are special to us."
Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead said:
"Scotland is a land of quality food and drink, blessed with a rich and abundant natural larder. St Andrew's Day is the ideal opportunity for Scots and everyone with a Scottish connection to celebrate our rich heritage of food and drink.
"To commemorate this special day, we have produced a St Andrew's Day menu card featuring traditional recipes to help all of Scotland sit down to a traditional family meal on November 30. I would encourage everyone to try these delicious dishes so we can all celebrate St Andrew's Day in true Scottish style."
For the past 2O years the Scotch Lamb brand has whole-chain assurance, which makes it the meat of choice for many consumers, keen to support the six assurance schemes which ensure high standards of production, feed, haulage, auction marts, processing and animal welfare are met.
