Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board

Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced a new non-executive member appointment to Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board.

Mr Kenneth Winter, recently retired, was Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Construction with responsibility for all their building work throughout the UK. His experience ranges across numerous health projects including a number of major new hospital developments. He is a Trustee of Quarriers charity and does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

This appointment will be for a period of four years from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2013.

This post is part-time with a time commitment of 8 hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,904.

Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region.

This Ministerial appointment was made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Mr Winter has not been involved in any political activity.
