Lanarkshire NHS Board

Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced the re-appointment of two non-executive members to Lanarkshire NHS Board.

Mr David Clark is Chief Executive of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, one of Scotland's leading medical research charities and service providers. He is a member of the Scottish Government's National Advisory Committee on Stroke and serves on a range of local Managed Clinical Networks, NHS QIS and SIGN project groups. He has previously worked on a professional and voluntary basis in the fields of dementia services, housing and care for older people, research and lecturing. Mr Clark has been a Member of Lanarkshire NHS Board since 2005 and does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

Mr John Anning has been a Member of Lanarkshire NHS Board since 2005, and has been chair of the operating management committee for the North Lanarkshire Community Health Partnership since April 2006. Following a career with the Department for International Development, Mr Anning currently operates as an independent human resources consultant, with particular interests in workplace coaching and mediation. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

Both re-appointments will be for a period of four years from March 1, 2009 to February 28, 2013.

These posts are part-time with a time commitment of 8 hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,748.

Lanarkshire NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Lanarkshire region.

These Ministerial re-appointments were made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, none of the above re-appointees have been involved in any political activity.
