Drive to help fuel poor

04/11/2008

Eligible households were today urged to apply for help through the Scottish Government's Central Heating Programme.

Communities Minister Stewart Maxwell was in Glasgow today to promote a radio and newspaper marketing blitz being undertaken by Scottish Gas to increase the number of applicants through the programme.

This follows an announcement by Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon on October 18 of an extra £10 million to provide more central heating systems this year.

Mr Maxwell said:

"There is an extra £10 million of investment going into the central heating programme this year, and we want as many people as possible to benefit from the programme."
