Showcase of superb Scottish food
31/10/2008
The BBC Good Food Show Scotland has returned to Glasgow to showcase superb Scottish food.
The show was opened this morning by the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment Richard Lochhead and leading Scottish chef Gordon Ramsay.
The event is a true showcase for all the fantastic food that is produced in Scotland and is taking place at Glasgow's SECC over the next three days.

Last year's show attracted over 15,000 visitors and this year, even more will come along to be inspired to use the delicious ingredients available on their doorsteps to make tasty, good value healthy meals in their own homes.
Richard Lochhead, who recognises the importance of food to Scotland, said:
"As the Good Food Show returns to Glasgow, even more Scottish companies will be taking the opportunity to showcase Scotland's freshest, finest produce to a UK-wide audience. There is a growing interest in the provenance of what we eat - people want to know where their food comes from, how it was grown and its impact on the environment. Since last year's show, we have taken major steps towards developing our first-ever national food and drink policy to boost the industry and enhance Scotland's reputation as a land of food and drink."
Mr Lochhead recently announced plans to ensure Scotland's world-wide reputation for food and drink is at the heart of next year's Homecoming Scotland celebrations:
"Homecoming will celebrate some of Scotland's great contributions to the world. Our food and drink is up among the best so we need to ensure those returning home next year get to sample it and become international ambassadors for our industry. The Scottish Government is therefore funding a post dedicated to ensuring food and drink is properly showcased during Homecoming."
