Kilmarnock Dental Centre officially opened
06/10/2008
A dental centre in Kilmarnock was offically opened by Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon today.
The Teach and Treat Dental Centre offers a range of dental health treatment as well as an outreach centre which provides opportunities for Glasgow Dental School students to gain experience.
A £1.4 million Scottish Government grant was used to increase the range of services on offer, including the provision of the outreach centre.
Following the opening, Ms Sturgeon will chair NHS Ayrshire and Arran's Annual Review.
Commenting on the annual review, Ms Sturgeon said:
"Holding those who manage our NHS boards to account in public is the right thing to do, both to give credit where it's due, but also to tackle tough issues and drive forward improvements.
"At this year's annual reviews extra time has been allocated to allow additional questions from members of the public attending the review.
"These meetings are a chance to question key decision-makers, who are shaping the way health services are delivered across Scotland. I hope people will take the opportunity to attend and ask questions about their health service."
Professor Bill Stevely CBE, Chairman of Ayrshire and Arran Health Board said:
"Our Annual Review is an opportunity for members of the public to hear how we have been performing during the past year. It also offers the opportunity for people to raise any issues or concerns they have directly to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing."
