Orkney NHS Board appointments

Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon today announced the re-appointment of two non-executive members to Orkney NHS Board.
Mr Jim Robertson is a project manager with Orkney Islands Council working on regeneration projects in Stromness and Kirkwall. He has previously been Chair of Orkney Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chair of Orkney Enterprise. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
Mr Fred Groundwater, now retired, is a former Financial Manager and was employed most recently at the Flotta Oil Terminal, Orkney. Mr Groundwater's recreational pursuits are gardening and playing golf. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
Mr Robertson's re-appointment will be for a period of four years from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2012 and Mr Groundwater's re-appointment will be for a period of two years from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2010.
These posts are part time with a time commitment of eight hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,104.
Orkney NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Orkney region.
These Ministerial re-appointments were made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, none of the above re-appointees have been involved in any political activity.
