Award success for Dumfries firm

First Minister Alex Salmond congratulated DuPont Teijin Films UK for being granted the Queen's Award for Innovation on a visit to the company's Dumfries site today.
The company, which employs around 300 people and has a £90 million annual turnover, specialises in the production of film products, including film for ready meals, photovoltaic strips, smart cards and medical test strips.
The FM said:
"The Scottish Government's overarching aim is to increase sustainable economic growth. We fully recognise the success and value of companies such as DuPont Teijin Films UK (DTF) to the Scottish economy.
"DTF is a thriving, international company and has achieved great success through its innovative business approach. This has been duly recognised and I congratulate the company on receiving the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2008 for its Melinex light blocking polyester films."
David Gass of Scottish Enterprise further commented:
"We have an excellent working relationship with Du Pont Teijin Films UK and we look forward to continuing to help them build on their current success."
