The Scottish Government issued a statement in response to news of a data loss by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
A Scottish Government spokesman said:
"The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) informed us late on Thursday June 19 that contact information being transported by TNT from its Paisley Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre was missing. Extensive searches have been ongoing since, and concluded earlier today. The Scottish Government takes such issues extremely seriously and officials have been in close contact with counterparts at the SAS.
"The courier company has accepted full responsibility for the loss and we are confident that this is an unfortunate but isolated incident and that the SAS took all necessary steps to comply with data protection regulations.
"The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon, has received a full report from the SAS and will continue to be closely informed about its ongoing discussions with TNT."
