Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism Jim Mather announced today extensions to the terms of appointment of two Scottish Enterprise Board Members.

The members whose terms have been extended are Douglas Lamb and Pat Denzler.

Mr Douglas Lamb is Joint Managing Director of the Boxshop Ltd, a manufacturer of corrugated cardboard boxes and packaging. He founded the company in 1986. He is Chairman of Kelvin Business Watch and Chairman of his local School Parent Council.

Mrs Pat Denzler is a former restaurateur and hotelier, and also a past President of Leith Chamber of Commerce. She has served as an Assistant on the Court of The Merchant Company of Edinburgh and is currently a Trustee of the Royal Yacht Britannia and is a Governor of Erskine Stewart's Melville Schools.

The extensions will run from April 1, 2008 to July 31, 2008.

The posts are part-time and attract remuneration of £12,581 per annum for a time commitment of 2.5 days per month.

Neither of the members hold any other Ministerial appointments.

Scottish Enterprise is the Scottish Government's main agency for economic development in North East, Central and Lowland Scotland. The Scottish Government provides Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise with a clear strategic direction through the Government Economic Strategy.

These extensions were processed in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Neither of the members has declared political activity.
