Placing requests in schools in Scotland 2006/07

Scotland's Chief Statistician today published statistics relating requests by parents to local authorities that a child be placed in a specified school.
Some of the main findings are:
- The number of requests received decreased five per cent from the previous year, to 28,645
- The proportion of requests granted continues to be stable at around 85 per cent
- Requests for P1 represented 22 per cent of the P1 pupil roll and for S1 represented 13 per cent of the pupil roll
National statistics are produced by professionally independent statistical staff.
