Aberdeenshire golf resort inquiry

10/03/2008

Ministers have appointed James McCulloch, Chief Reporter and Director for Planning and Environmental Appeals, to conduct the public local inquiry into the application by the Trump organisation for a golf course and resort development at Balmedie.

A pre-inquiry meeting will be held starting at 1 pm on Wednesday March 26, 2008 within the Crombie Suite at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

The purpose of the pre-inquiry meeting is solely to discuss the administrative arrangements for the inquiry. No discussion will take place concerning the relative merits of the proposal.

The meeting will focus on issues such as the identification of the main issues for the inquiry, the scope and sequence of evidence and the likely duration and scale of the inquiry.

The Chief Reporter considers that the inquiry should start in the second half of June. An exact timescale will only be available after the pre-inquiry meeting.

Letters are today being sent to everyone who made representations to Aberdeenshire council or directly to Scottish Ministers to inform them that their representation will be taken into account irrespective of whether they take any further part in the process; their options should they wish to make further representations, including appearing at the inquiry, and the arrangements for the pre-inquiry meeting.
