New Year Honours 2008

Knighthoods are awarded to John Good CBE, Chair of the Edrington Group and Professor Timothy O'Shea, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, in the New Year Honours list.
Among those in Scotland to receive a CBE are Stewart Milne, Chair and Chief Executive of the Stewart Milne Group, and Andrew Cameron QPM, Chief Constable, Central Scotland Police.
Recipients of the OBE include Philip Riddle, Chief Executive of VisitScotland, film producer Iain Smith, artist Alison Watt and Mushtaq Ahmad, lately Provost of South Lanarkshire Council.
The MBE has been awarded to the singer and songwriter Ian Anderson and snooker player John Higgins.
The Queen's Police Medal is awarded to John Rodger Corrigan, Assistant Chief Constable, Strathclyde Police; Norma Graham, Deputy Chief Constable, Fife Constabulary and John Deans (Ian) Marshall, Constable, Dumfries & Galloway Police.
The Queen's Fire Service Medal is awarded Anthony Wood, Deputy Chief Officer, Highlands & Islands Fire and Rescue Service and John Russell, Area Manager, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
