Reappointment to heritage body

Linda Fabiani, Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Culture today announced the reappointment of a Commissioner of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.
The Commissioner reappointed is:
Gordon Masterton is a Civil Engineer who is based in Glasgow and is Vice President Environment of Jacobs. He was President of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2005-06 and used his year in office to promote the value of understanding and celebrating our built heritage for the benefit of the future. He has specialised at various times in the engineering design of buildings, bridges, tunnelling and coastal defence.
This reappointment will be for five years and runs from 1 November 2007 to 31 October 2012.
This post is part-time and is not remunerated. There is a time commitment of the equivalent of up to two days per month. Mr Masterton holds no other Ministerial appointments.
The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland is an executive NDPB which carries out field surveys, records the built heritage of Scotland, and maintains the National Monuments Record of Scotland.
This Ministerial public appointment was made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. The appointee has not declared any political activity in the past five years.
