Schools urged to tell success stories
04/12/2007
Schools across Scotland were urged to tell their stories of achievement today with the launch of the 2008 Scottish Education Awards.
The awards cover everything from recognising individual staff, the positive contribution of pupils, to whole school awards for work in areas like enterprise and healthy living.
Launching the nominations process at Burnhouse School in Whitburn, Cabinet Secretary for Educations and Lifelong Learning Fiona Hyslop said:
"There are so many great things happening in our schools. Every year, we hear more inspiring stories from across the country.
"The Education Awards give us a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work and success which has taken place in Scottish education and recognise the achievements of those who dedicate their lives to ensuring young Scots have the best possible start in life.
"We want to hear from as many schools as possible over the coming months."
Burnhouse Special School won two Awards this year - an Ambition Award and a Determined to Succeed Most Enterprising School Special Award. This is the first time in the Scottish Education Awards history that one school won two awards.
Nominations open today and run until February 22. Anyone can nominate, and nominations should be made online at Scottish Education Awards.
