Two young Scots jet off to Japan today to take part in an international competition on skills.
Julie Doig and Chris Blake are the Scottish members of the UK's squad for WorldSkills - the 'Skills Olympics' which kick off in Namazu City, Japan, on November 14.
Painter and decorator Chris, 20, from Livingston and Julie, 21, who works in restaurant services at the Gleneagles Hotel are set to test their professional skills against teams from across the globe.

Minister for Skills Maureen Watt said:
"Having met them, I know how committed Chris and Julie are to the competition. Their preparation has been painstaking and their commitment commendable. I wish them, and everyone who has helped support them in the run up to this event, the very best of luck in Japan. This is their chance to shine and demonstrate the superb standard of Scotland's skills."
WorldSkills is the biggest skills competition in the world and takes place every two years in one of the 48 member countries.
This year's contest will see 850 young people (under 23) compete in 47 skills categories, ranging from cabinet making to web design. It takes place in Namazu City, Japan, from November 14-21.
The UK will host WorldSkills 2011 which is expected to create a lasting skills legacy that will benefit the UK before, during and after the event.
Julie Doig, 21, lives in Perthshire and works in the Gleneagles Hotel. Her qualifications include an HND in Hospitality Management and a Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 2.
Chris Blake, 20, lives in Livingston and is employed by Mardon Decorating Services in West Lothian. His qualifications include SVQs (levels 1, 2 and 3) and a Modern Apprenticeship.
