GDP figures - second quarter 2007

Scotland's Chief Statistician today announced the release of Gross Domestic Product for Scotland for the 2nd Quarter of 2007. This quarterly publication measures growth, in real terms, of GDP for Scotland.
The main findings are:
- GDP rose by 2.3 per cent annually and by 0.9 per cent over the second quarter of 2007 (seasonally adjusted)
- Over the year to the end of 2007 Q2, annual output in the Scottish service sector grew by 2.8 per cent, compared with a 0.1 per cent increase in the production sector and a 3.5 per cent rise in construction
- In the second quarter of 2007, the service sector grew by 1.0 per cent, the construction sector grew by 0.2 per cent and the production sector increased by 0.8 per cent
