Glasgow Housing Association

18/09/2007

Communities and Sport Minister Stewart Maxwell today responded to an independent inspection report on the performance of Glasgow Housing Association (GHA), which was published by Communities Scotland, the social housing regulator.

Mr Maxwell said:

"I welcome this thorough and impartial report. We will be studying it in detail over the coming weeks.

"However, it is immediately clear that the previous administration failed to put in place a coherent long-term plan when the GHA was created.

"What's important now is that the interests of current and future tenants are safeguarded.

"The clock is ticking - GHA now has eight weeks to produce a comprehensive improvement plan that addresses the concerns highlighted in the report.

"I will ensure that MSPs in the Scottish Parliament have an early opportunity to give this important issue the prominence it deserves."
