Scottish Fashion Awards

10/09/2007

The Scottish Government is to sponsor an award at this year's Scottish Fashion Awards event.

Minister for Culture Linda Fabiani will present the New Talent Award to one of six young designers who have been nominated for the prize.

Speaking ahead of the Awards Ms Fabiani said:

"I believe strongly that our young creative talent must be nurtured and given a stage on which to shine - the Scottish Fashion Awards provide that stage.

"Our celebrated design schools have educated an inspiring array of designers that have gone on to form impressive careers which continue to captivate the industry. And it is exciting to see this new generation of designers who promise not only to uphold Scotland's design kudos but to build on it.

"The Scottish Fashion Awards celebrate the success of our fashion industry and emphasise the great potential that exists in Scotland to flourish both creatively and commercially - I want to see a fashionable Scotland lead the way."

The Scottish Fashion Awards 2007 will take place on Sunday, September 9 at Stirling Castle.

The Scottish Government sponsors the New Talent Award and is also a gold sponsor of the Scottish Fashion Awards. A total of £20,000 has been awarded.
