Hydro scheme approved
04/07/2007
Ministers have approved plans for a run-of-river hydro electric scheme in Wester Ross, with a maximum generating capacity of three megawatts.
The Inverlael hydro development will be situated to the south east of Loch Broom and to the south of Ullapool. The scheme will include a powerhouse and two pipe bridges, one over the River Lael and one over the Allt Mor.
RWE Npower plc applied on in March 2005 for consent to construct and operate a run-of-river hydro electric station at Inverlael near Ullapool. Conditions have been attached to the consent to safeguard local planning and environmental interests.
