Funding for green volunteering
27/03/2007
An organisation that provides advice and practical support to community groups engaged in environmental volunteering activities is to benefit from £61,182 funding, it was announced today.
The Executive funding for BTCV Scotland represents half of the budget it intends to spend on its Community Local Action Network (CLAN project over the next financial year. The remaining 50 per cent will be match funded by BTCV itself.
Deputy Environment Minister Sarah Boyack said:
"The Scottish Executive is committed to supporting environmental volunteering. The Executive has provided financial support to the CLAN project for a good number of years now and that is firm evidence of the confidence and value that we have placed on the outcomes it delivers.
"Through volunteering, individuals and communities can become more active and play their part in improving their own environments. This, in turn, will help biodiversity, improve greenspace and give communities a better quality of life."
